Abstract

The issue of environmental degradation has existed since the arrival of mankind on this planet. Human conduct changed the natural environment from forests to agricultural land approximately 4000 BC, destroying native ecosystems, diminishing biodiversity, and stimulating the release of carbon dioxide into the sky. Exploring indigenous peoples' local wisdom or rational knowledge can help solve the problem of environmental destruction. Similarly, the indigenous Sabu people keep their behavior in harmony with their fellow humans and nature. The Sabu people's way of life is heavily reliant on nature; their major occupations are tapping lontar and farming, which encourages them to keep the ecosystem in balance. Their expression of thankfulness to the Creator (Deo Ama)
